I have worked both here in New Zealand and in Australia as a health and safety practitioner since 1999 after completing Bachelor of Science majoring in chemistry with OHS forming part of this degree and attained a Graduate Diploma in Teaching.
After a short stint working and teaching at Massey University in OHS I completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (with distinction) and a Master in Management in Occupational Health and Safety with a focus on the effects of workplace injury under-reporting, noise exposure to workers, and effective injury reduction.
Over the last 20 years I have worked in a wide range of industries including construction, petro-chem, renewable energy, manufacturing, power and electricity generation, contractor management, telecommunications (BAU and UFB), hazardous substances management, and deep well drilling before taking up the role of Health and Safety Manager at the New Zealand Racing Board in May 2016.
I am currently a Graduate Member of the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management and became an accredited SafePlus Assessor in 2017, with a strong a focus on providing practical solutions in workplace practices strategic development, culture development, employee engagement, and leading transformational change to support sustainable workplace health and safety growth as part of business delivery.
