Background
I am interested in simplifying health and safety systems so that they are seen as useful operational tools that match work as done, rather than as imagined.
My interest in health started with my MSC in Biomedical Science; my knowledge of injuries came from working as HM Inspector of Health & Safety for HSE in the UK. In New Zealand I returned to he lab before joining ACC and understanding the impact of injuries on people and their families. I've since moved back into health and safety which I see as the barrier at the top of the cliff rather than the ambulance at the bottom. To me, H&S is a customer service role, not an enforcement activity.
