Background

Alex holds the position of Occupational Health Nurse for the Health and Wellbeing Team of Canterbury Linen Services which is a subsidiary company of the Canterbury District Health Board. Alex is also working as a Registered Nurse at the New Zealand Blood Service and was appointed as one of the Health and Safety Representatives of the New Zealand Blood Service. 

Alex is a Registered Nurse with Occupational Health Experience and Post Graduate Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety. She also worked in Saudi Arabia for many years where she gained skills, knowledge and experience in Surgical Nursing.

Alex has written articles as part of her requirement to obtain her Post Graduate Qualifications at the University of Otago. The articles were entitled “Use of PPE correctly and safely” and “Employment of People with Schizophrenia” and both were published in NZNO Kai Tiaki Nursing.  

Alex has a strong focus on health promotion and prevention of disease. Alex believes that working together with employees and managers creates a positive health and safety culture which is reflected in her various projects at Canterbury Linen Services. Being the Health and Safety Representative at the New Zealand Blood Service, Alex plays an important role in creating and supporting a culture of safety in the New Zealand Blood Service.
