Background

With a 21 year employment history at the University of Otago, I have seen many changes in H&S.  With a background in H&S in the manufacturing sector, H&S and occupational health within the enforcement agency, and an Occupational Nursing qualification, the range of activities involved in the University setting have kept me entertained and occupied.  Having completed master’s degrees in nursing and health science, I am close to completing a MBA, all very useful at a time when there is a pressing need to represent the value and benefits of not just H&S, including the wellbeing of staff, to the University Council and senior management.  Served on the inaugural Occupational Health Advisory Group, WorkSafe, advising the WorkSafe board on occupational health matters.  My senior role with the University includes strategic H&S advise, policy development, implementation and evaluation, and managing a team of 20+.
