My knowledge and experience comes from having consulted and worked on projects from small commercial to large industrial, and at all stages of a project life cycle. Starting at the conceptual stage all the way through to construction, then finally handing over an asset to the owner and switching to operations and maintenance.
I have worked in different roles ranging from hands-on daily health and safety coordination, training and auditing, consulting and managing. This has given me a wide perspective on how the workplace and its people operate at all levels of an organization. It has also provided vast and invaluable learnings from countless interactions and involvements in the day-to-day planning and execution of activities on construction sites and other high-risk workplaces.
I believe that being technically inclined and curious about how things work is vital for a health and safety professional. It ensures a good perspective and understanding of hazards to enable you to assist with practical solutions for managing risks.
