Background
I understand safety and compliance from the inside. Having worked operationally within business functions, I’ve experienced first-hand how complex and confusing safety can appear to the over-run, under-resourced organisation and business owner.
My focus is about educating and demystifying PCBU obligations and providing solutions that compliment – not detract – from day-to-day operations.
While I hear all too often that safety isn’t a ‘revenue generating role’ – done well it can certainly have very tangible impacts on productivity, and profit. Having the broad perspective of HR and employment requirements and practices in business, I apply an integrated approach to people, process and safety practices.
As a consultant my philosophy for work is around building internal capabilities and resources and working to achieve the phase where organisations can be independent with their compliance practices where they want to be, and well supported when they need to be.
With experience across multiple sectors (lifting, rigging, medical consumables, height safety, wholesale trade, beauty, trades and manufacturing as a few examples) I am well aware that one size doesn’t fit all – and by applying the right practices within our business-as-usual operations is where we find the safety and compliance sweet spot.
