Damon Jacobsen

Background
My passion for H&S spans over 25 years, from when I first started work on the factory floor. I have learnt lessons in H&S management design based on application to work done, where it is crucial to get it right to avoid harm. Over the past 10 years I have held senior management roles within two large manufacturing firms, both of which are high risk environments. These roles were generalist, covering a wide range of H&S management requirements. This has allowed me to develop a keen understanding of H&S across an organisation.
My key drivers are protecting people and solving problems, which are founded on an overall desire to help people. H&S should not be seen as a barrier to work but instead be seen as a better way to do things that looks after your most valuable resource.
My capabilities based on experience include; Leading and coaching other leaders in H&S management, dealing with serious harm events, developing policies and procedures that all levels of the organisation can understand, conducting risk assessments include machinery risk and guarding, training, contractor management, injury management, safe body movement and ergonomics, incident investigations with a view to solutions.
I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational H&S Management (L7), along with other qualifications including machinery risk assessment. I am recognised with NZISM as a Professional Member.
