I learnt my OH&S trade working for many years at Coca Cola Amatil (NZ) Limited manufacturing industry. My primary responsibility was the overseeing of South Island various facilities for occupational health and safety requirements (3 sites). My training was quite broad however as I was frequently involved in multiple internal and external audit types such as for safety, quality, environmental and security and there was a lot of contractor management.

On leaving Coca Cola about 10 years ago, I furthered my studies and have embarked on work as an OHS consultant. My work is varied - according to the needs of our clients such as risk, incident or contractor management, traffic management plans, auditing, PreQual applications or providing training.

Providing ISO Management Systems

My biggest passion has been around writing and providing OH&S management systems. In more recent times this has been for at ISO 45001 level. Many companies have gone on to achieve external JAS-ANZ certification with Telarc of BSI auditing bodies on management systems that I created for them. My services are well known in the asbestos industry where external certifications are a requirement for gaining an asbestos removalist license with WorkSafe.

In the past two years my work has evolved to working with larger companies and the creation of ISO integrated management systems (IMS) that is the integration of OH&S, Environment and Quality management systems. This has been very satisfying work. Integrated management systems can lead towards organisation high performance, good for their brand recognition and may help organisations win future product supply or service contracts. Occupational health and safety, environmental compliance and sustainability and quality high performance exceeding customer expectations all matter.
