With global experience employing my skills in emergency, security and combat zone situations, my commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental Management is a deeply held conviction.
With a Masters (MSc) Degree in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Risk Management, I have professional status with IOSH and the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management (NZISM) as a Graduate Health & Safety Practitioner.
My career in safety began with almost 10 years in the 7 Medical Battalion Group, the specialist Airborne Medical Unit of the South African Military Health Service. This elite medical unit’s main task is to render medical support to the South African Special Operations Forces, as well as conducting Combat Search and Rescue, CBRNE detection, verification and decontamination, Diving and Aviation medicine, as well as providing medical support to the Presidential Protection Unit. I was a paramedic within the Presidential Protection Unit, with Mr Nelson Mandela (then retired) as our Principal VIP.
My career followed a natural progression through Industrial High Angle Rope Access services, to medical support and Health and Safety for remote site clients mainly in the Oil and Gas industries across Uganda, Libya and the Middle East, to working in the OH&S field in beautiful New Zealand.
