Philippa Grimes

Background

Philippa Grimes is a self-employed physiotherapist who specialises in occupational health and ergonomics. She began in this work in 1986.  As well as her physiotherapy qualification, she has a Diploma of Occupational Health Practice (University of Otago) and a Post-Graduate Diploma of Ergonomics (Massey University). In 2022, Philippa was awarded Life Membership of Physiotherapy New Zealand for her contribution to occupational health physiotherapy. Philippa has a specialised knowledge in the prevention, assessment and management of workplace musculoskeletal conditions, predominantly those that come under the ‘discomfort, pain and injury’ umbrella e.g. back pain. Her experience is in office and industrial sectors. Optimising the fit between what staff do, how they work, and their physical environment to enhance work system performance is fundamental to staff's health, safety and well being  and to business productivity.

In addition to her assessment consultancy, Philippa has made presentations to workplaces and at conferences.  

In 2022 Philippa was awarded Life Membership of Physiotherapy New Zealand for her contribution to occupational health physiotherapist for over 30 years.
