I am a chemical consultant whose main aim is to make your job easier. There is so much terminology out there and you can't be expected to understand it all. I have worked as a research and development scientist, teaching fellow at the University of Otago and guest lectured at the University of Waikato. I have also worked in three University's central health and safety teams developing operational and strategic guidance for working with hazardous substances. I have managed laboratories that contain material that is lethal by skin contact, produce gamma-radiation and material that just wants to spontaneously explode.
It's all safe, if you know how to handle it correctly. I have a PhD in Biophysical Chemistry from the University of Otago and a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences (Occupational Health and Safety) from Massey University. I am a professional member of NZISM and have previously held the rank of vol. senior firefighter with FENZ.
