After gaining a Psychology Degree at Massey University, I went on to forge a career in Human Resources, before stumbling across Health and Safety. I have always been passionate about safety and interested in how different people approach risk, which meant this profession was the perfect fit for me. I am now a graduate member of the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management and have a diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
I have been working in the field of Health and Safety for 12 years and have worked with a wide range of industries during this time. I especially enjoy coaching and training staff. My goal is to make health and safety simple and easy to understand and use. My approach to health and safety is both pragmatic and collaborative. I'd much rather work with managers to improve safety in their workplace in a way that is still practical than tell them what to do and make it difficult for them to carry our their tasks in the process.
My philosophy is that systems needs to be practical and easy to follow so that people actually use them and go home safely to their families at the end of the day. I am very passionate about keeping people safe at work.
After 7 years working as a Consultant I wanted to go back to being part of a team, so I joined the team at Marisco Vineyards in February 2021 as the Health and Safety/Capability Manager.
