Background

I am a Managing Director of a Christchurch based engineering company - Mach3 Engineering.  We have been in business since 2007 and manufacture, supply and install machinery guarding as well as general, architecture and maintenance engineering services.

Within Mach3 we have our guarding division called MachGuard.  We offer a whole machinery guarding solution, whether it be machinery guarding advice, audits or risk assessments right through to the supply and installation of machinery guarding including perimeter and nip point guarding for internal and external environments as well as high corrosive areas throughout the country.  We can also manufacture and supply stairs, platforms, handrails and walkway solutions.  We offer a full CAD modelling service and can organise an independent assessment through a third party assessor where validation is required.  All guarding solutions are built in accordance with relevant legislation and safety standards including AS/NZ 4024.  We also have the added benefit of qualified, experienced engineers to provide practical advice around machinery maintenance and servicing requirements.

I hold qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety specialising in Machinery Guarding.  Learnings from my study have been implemented into our own business to achieve compliance and create a simple health and safety system that has improved the overall health and wellbeing of our workshop and employees.  I can offer practical advice in workshop health and safety including implementing policy and procedure, employee health monitoring, and a machinery guarding program.
