Background

Deborah Cameron has extensive health and safety expertise and experience in the logistics sector and is Redhawk Safety’s Director and Principal Consultant.  Deb leads safety in complex critical risk environments such as on New Zealand's ports, and in manufacturing and agri-business.  Deb has a proven ability of positively engaging industry stakeholders and internal networks such port companies, WorkSafe, Maritime NZ, and the Ministry of Primary Industries.  

Deb promotes a practical and collaborative approach to her health and safety leadership.  In 2021 Deb was part of a team who was announced the winner of the Safeguard NZ Workplace Health and Safety Awards for "Best Collaboration between PCBUs".  Deb enjoys working alongside teams and has a proven record of being an effective communicator and getting along well with people.  Deb is an ICAM Accident Investigator and practices the 'Learning Teams' and 'Safety Differently' philosophies.  Deb is respectful to all workers and management, is an active listener, and is solutions focused.

Deb is currently the NZISM Sector Lead for Logistics and an elected executive member of the NZISM Senior Leadership Team.    Deb completed a ‘Master of Workplace Health & Safety with Distinction’, from the University of Newcastle, in Australia and is a Certified Professional NZISM member. Deb has a passion for workplace health and safety, with a genuine desire to improve New Zealand’s health and safety performance, and to promote a strong safety culture.
