Background

I am an experienced Business and HSE Leader having mostly worked in the Major Hazard/Heavy Construction/Decommissioning and Mega Projects for the Oil & Gas industry for over 31 years, in both Operational and Project related roles. I have been an HSE Professional for over 23 years.

I changed my career from an industrial chemist and operations role to Health, Safety and Environment because of personally experiencing a workplace fatal accident, and I wanted to make a real difference so everyone else who goes to work, ends up safely back at home with their loved ones at the end of the day-and do not have to experience the heartbreak that a (usually) totally avoidable fatal or serious accident brings.

I am a passionate, influential HSE professional, that enjoys working with all levels in an organisation. I am equally comfortable and experienced in working with Board members, senior Leadership teams, Supervisors, Contractors, and site workers. I understand the business context quickly and seek to provide pragmatic solutions that focus on priority areas that reduce risk the most and improve business performance (best cost/benefit).

I have a successfully been able to introduce international best practice solutions to solve gaps and problems, and I pride myself to be able to quickly establish the good things that are working as well as the 'low hanging fruit' that could be pursued.

I enjoy working with diverse teams and facilitating collaboration in groups to achieve consensus on ways forward. I am competent in areas of Technical (process) Safety and Operational safety-in the full project cycle phases (EPC etc), especially in the High Hazards and Oil & Gas and related industries.
