Heidi Börner has practiced as an Occupational Health and Safety specialist since 1993. Her experience ranges from direct patient care to full programme development, delivery, and evaluation, all with the aim of preventing workplace injury and illness. She has worked with small, medium, and large industrial, educational, and healthcare organisations in the private, public and government sectors, and has coached managers and senior executives to achieve outstanding health and safety performance.
Heidi is the co-creator of the Orange Umbrella® tools which help employers evaluate their company systems to diagnose and quantify the hidden risks and inefficiencies in their organisation. The leading indicators that are generated help them to pinpoint and manage risk and enable people and companies to thrive. The restorative approach sets the company up for a healthy work culture.
Since 2010, Heidi has managed the Electricity Supply Industry Safety Climate Project (SCP) and communicated findings at the industry, company, and individual level. The valid and reliable information - including over 7000 surveys tracked over 8 years, qualitative data and thousands of improvement actions - have been relied upon for guiding positive change in the industry. She has worked with all levels of organisations, and the SCP findings have shown the critical role of a restorative approach to governance and leadership in achieving the outcomes that all New Zealand workplaces strive for – safe, healthy, and performing workplaces.
