Background

I have had a career in the tourism sector spanning 30 years. Recognising a need to build health and safety capability in the tourism sector I qualified as a health and safety practitioner completing a Grad.dip.OHS at Massey in 2017. I also recognised that many small and medium sized business owners were equally confused by the new legislation.

I have worked with many start up and small/medium sized businesses around the world. Having owned and operated small businesses myself, I understand the resource and capability challenges many businesses face.  As a qualified adult teacher, having run a training business for 15 years, my focus is on building internal capability by speaking plain simple language and ensuring business owners have a clear understanding of their objectives. Businesses are supported with expert guidance and easy to use systems.

The nature of many small businesses in New Zealand is they were started by someone with a passion to do something. While most are highly skilled in their field, that doesn’t necessarily make them a great administrator. Experience shows most small and medium sized businesses generally have a good understanding of the risks present in their operation, however, businesses owners are often confused by health and safety jargon and legislation speak. Safety management systems are designed to suit the nature of your operation.
